Collaborates with organization leaders, senior executives, and managers, and their teams to facilitate and create the next generation of diverse, well-trained, and legally complaint leaders through Lionhearted Safe Spaces: Trauma Informed Practices (TM,SM).
Diversity Equity and Inclusion
There are many reasons organizations are focused on diversity, equity and inclusion training programs these days. But for far too long we talked of diversity as if it were the final destination. However, without effort toward true equity and true inclusion, “diversity” efforts and training become the worst kind of tokenism and placation.
While it is certainly the right thing to do to try to have every organization effort to reflect the society it serves, there are also pertinent business reasons for making sure your entity has a strong diversity, equity and inclusion program.
To be sure Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive Teams:
- Bring Better Solutions
Diverse teams bring different information, opinions and perspectives to any organizational problem. Studies have demonstrated that diverse teams are more accurate in problem solving , and make fewer mistakes. Simply put, teams with racial, gender identity, and socio-economic diversity promote better critical thinking.
- Enhance Financial Performance
Organizations in the top 25% of gender diversity on their executive teams were 21% more likely to have above average profitability. Further, entities in the top 25% for ethnic/cultural diversity on their executive teams were 33% more likely to outperform expectations on profitability. The numbers don’t lie.
- Effectively Deal with Unconscious Bias
We are exposed to as many as 11 million pieces of information at one time, but our brain can only functionally deal with about 40. Given that, we are constantly making hidden reflective judgments that shape our perceptions which are formed by our experiences, beliefs, and values. These cognitive shortcuts make up 70-75% of our thoughts. Although most are not intentionally discriminatory, unless we train ourselves on the existence of our unconscious bias we are going to make instantons decisions which may not further our efforts to have the most diverse, equitable and inclusive teams.
To best prepare your team for our training and facilitations, we do an initial 360 degree review of systems, team composition, organizational structures and decision trees. We then conduct staff interviews and schedule listening sessions. Finally, we set goals and lead a training, which is followed up by accountability meetings to be sure all goals are being integrated to bring true change.
Performance and Accountability Consultant
Our consultants facilitate and create accountability and key performance indicators to develop workers to lead your organization into the future. This is not about focusing on past failures and mistakes, but rather on generating alternatives ways of communicating and interacting to problem solve in the future. The goal is to work with the team to generate results that can be examined, assessed, and maximized- because if it can be measured it can be improved.
A Gallup survey shows that only 33.7% of employees feel engaged at work, but with proper help, this number can be improved.
